Orange Clove Tea

Have you been on a spree of decadent eating? Those celebrating festivals, I bet you have. This refreshing orange clove tea is just for you.

Cleansing and immunity-boosting, with a warm tangy taste. You couldn’t ask for anything better after a heavy meal.

You Need:

  • Water – 2.5 cups
  • Oranges – 1
  • Cloves – 6
  • Black tea bag – 1
  • Honey – 1 tablespoon, or to taste

[Makes two cups]

How To Make Orange Clove Tea:

Peel the orange. Wash the peel thoroughly, tear it up into strips. Keep the fruit aside for later use.

Crush the cloves coarsely.

Bring water to a boil. Add orange peel and cloves. Cover and simmer for ten minutes.

Switch off the flame. Add a tea bag and let it brew for 5 minutes. Discard the tea bag.

Extract the juice from the peeled orange and add it to the tea. Slowly reheat to boiling point, then take it off the flame. Mix honey and using a strainer, pour into two cups. Serve steaming hot orange clove tea immediately.

Notes:

The taste of orange peel may be a little too strong with some varieties of orange. Reduce the quantity of orange peel being used if it makes the tea too bitter.

If you do like orange peel, try making orange marmalade at home.

Another excellent use for orange peel: Dry it in the sun for a day, powder it and mix it with besan (gram flour) in a 1:1 ratio to make a face scrub.
